Daitian Fu (Temple of the Heavenly Viceroys)
Daitian Fu (Temple of the Heavenly Viceroys) of Madou District serves as the seat of the Five Princes of Thousand Years. Construction began in 1956 and took 10 years to complete with the help of Taiwan's most skilled and famous artisans. The Temple is located at No. 60, Guandimiao, Nanshih Village, and occupies an area of over three Jia (three hectares). The layout includes three main halls, namely the forward, middle, and rear halls, as well as the Guanyin Baodian (Gilded Temple of the Avalokiteśvara Buddha.) The Temple is large and majestic, with spacious corridors on either side and is capable of accommodating thousands of supplicants and worshipers at the same time. The scale and construction of the Temple are extremely majestic, with Taiwan's first camphor doors with carved Door Guardians, masterfully crafted Jiaojhij Shao (Vietnamese porcelain), mosaic, and colored frescoes made by master artists who have won the Cultural Heritage Arts Award. Every inch of the Temple is a masterpiece in itself that deserves meticulous appreciation and study. Guanyin Baodian (Gilded Temple of the Avalokiteśvara Buddha) located at the south is laid out like a heavenly shrine. The shrine is 32 meters high, with 84 lively sculptures that depict the separate incarnations of the Avalokiteśvara Buddha rescuing people from their sufferings. The Temple serves as the seat of the holy figure of Avalokiteśvara Buddha from Bukenqu Guanyinyuan (Bukenqu Avalokiteśvara Buddha Monastery) located at Putuo Mountain of Jhejiang Province in Mainland China. Taisuei Dian (Temple of Longevity) is also attached to the main Temple, serving as the first branch temple in Taiwan for Baiyun Guanchen Dian (Chen Hall of White Clouds Taoist Monastery) and offering seats for Yuanming Daolao Yuanjyun (High Matron of Daolao) and Liushih Taisuei Singjyun (Star Lord of the 60 Taisuei). To the north of the Temple is an artifact tower with five floors and one basement floor. The large hall located on the 5th floor is capable of accommodating 300 people participating in large conferences or in other events. This Temple has been listed as a tourist destination in the religious heritage category. Large investments have been made to construct a large koi pond in the inner courtyard as well as a Yanluo Dian (Yanluo Temple) of the 18 Hells to encourage people to steer away from evil-doings and perform charitable deeds. Shueijing Gong (Crystal Temple) also has Southeast Asia's largest dragon that measures 38 meters high, 54 meters long, and five meters in diameter. A sky view has been constructed within the dragon's body. Visitors can ascend the dragon and look at the street view of Madou from above.
